The eBay auction of 10 pairs of limited edition Eminem-branded Air Jordan sneakers brought in a total of $227,552, according to closing bids posted Monday. One pair of the Air Jordan IV models, which were created in partnership with Carhartt, was sold for $30,100, with the next highest going for $25,900. The lowest winning bid was $18,750.
Only 300 pairs of the sneakers were produced, and the eBay auction marked the only time they will be made available to the public, according to Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg.
The 10-day auction was held to raise money for Michigan State University’s Community Music School’s efforts to provide enrollment to local students.
More than $37,000 in bids came in the closing minutes of the auction, with some pairs jumping up as much as $10,000 in the final seconds before bidding closed.
The black and grey sneakers feature the Shady XV logo, commemorating the 15th anniversary of Eminem’s Shady Records label (located on the tongue, below the Jordan “Jumpman” logo), Eminem’s backwards E logo (on the left heel), the label’s signature hockey mask logo (on the right heel) and an upper made of Carhartt material.
The shoe marks Eminem’s third collaboration with Jordan brand, following earlier versions of the Air Jordan IV and Air Jordan II models.
